One of the best things about being self employed is that I can take my work with me!
Last weekend we were in Iowa for a dear frined’s wedding and I took some work along to do in the car. One was a skirt I needed to take apart because I messed up a little. One was a skirt that need the waist band sewn and since I do all that by hand it’s a great traveling project.
This week I am in Pennsylvania visiting my parents. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer about 5 years ago. It’s a miracle that he is still walking around but I live so far awy. I was talking to my darling aobut how I miss my parents and we decided it was time for me to visit for a while so I packed up the car with my fabric and sewing machines and here I am planted in the guest room and taking over my mom’s sewing room. I am in the midst of 3 skirts that will be mailed on Tuesday and I’ll be finishing up the things for my newest thing that will be announced the week of Thanksgiving…unless you are in my VIP List, in which case you’ll be hearing about it a week early which is good because it is going to be super limited. My darling and I also realized that next fall we will officially be empty nesters. We rarely ahve time together to just do fun stuff because we usually are traveling for a purpose. Well, we decided to run away down to Florida next October. The two of us will be taking our work along. Lousmith works form home so he can just pick up all of his stuff and takke it along too. It’t a good life I think. It hasn’t always been this way but we’re older now. KWIM?
I’m not telling you this to make you jealous. I am telling it to you because I’m thrilled about it. I’m excited because I want you to know that you can feel comfortable and confident trusting me with your new favorite skirt. No matter what I’m doing in my life I will feel super excited and happy that you would ask me to sew a special garment for you.
I would like to say though that if you are thinking of a special item for the holidays now is the time to reserve your spot.
