Routine

Can I ask you something? Do you have a morning routine?

I want to have one. Well, I guess I already have one but I want to do something different. I have a planner. I’m actually back to a version of bullet journaling and I think it’s working out pretty well but the thing is I have been writing the same 4 things for the beginning of the day for months and I almost never follow the plan.

Here’s the goal:

  1. Awake at 6:30
  2. Read Scriptures
  3. Prayer/Meditation
  4. Morning pills

After that then it’s get out of bed by 7:30, dress and start work by 8 or 8:30.

Here’s reality:

  1. Awake between 6:30 and 7
  2. Grab my phone and scroll Instagram and Facebook
  3. Look at the clock and realize an hour or more has gone by
  4. Read a verse of scripture and jump out of bed

I’ve tried sheer willpower, setting alarms and even peer pressure. I’m looking for advice. I need a pep talk. I need some encouragement. I know I’m wasting hours of high quality time every day of the week. And I’ve thought about not worrying too much about it but my phone starts ringing and texts start coming at around 8AM so those first couple of hours are the most perfect for how I want to use them.

So here’s my new idea. Plug my phone in downstairs so I have to get out of bed to get it. And buy a small alarm clock for next to my bed. What do you think of that? Really, if you have a good morning routine, tell me about it and also, how you got there.
